Hello lovely subscribers! ✨
So, on Wednesday I told you all that I was in Abu Dhabi for UAE Tour and asked what content you would like to see. The most asked-for interview was Kristen Faulkner so I duly trotted over to the Jayco AlUla team bus to quiz the American on everything from her off-season, to what she thinks of this race, to her goals for the season.
I think she gave some very interesting and thoughtful responses! Hopefully you will agree.
And if you haven’t already then check out our Insta for BTS stories (when I remember to upload) of the race.
Enjoy!

WCW: You had a really tough end to the year in 2022, how are you feeling now?
KF: I think I fully recovered in the off season. Last season was really tough for me. After Covid I never fully recovered even by the World Championships. I had taken a lot of time off for Covid and so my training just wasn't what it was supposed to be. So I finished the season on a bit of a low note and kind of fizzled out, which isn't the way you want to end the season. But I had a really great off season and was able to get healthy and take proper rest, and then come back and really go strong. So I feel like I had a really good block of winter training. And I'm healthy, and I'm excited. And I'm motivated. And I feel like I'm in a good place again.
WCW: You went back to the States over the winter, how was that?
KF: I did, I spent three months in California and saw all my friends and former colleagues, and it really felt like a good block at home. And then I also went to Alaska for Christmas with my parents. And so I feel like I got a lot of important personal time in which sets me up to have a really fresh start of the season.
WCW: Do you find it difficult being away from home?
