A chat with Niamh Fisher-Black 🇳🇿
The Kiwi climber on her world title and her increasing confidence
Hello lovely subscribers! ✨
I’m back from UAE!
So glad you all enjoyed the Kristen Faulkner interview at the weekend. It was great to bring you some content that had been requested by our readers!
This week we’ve got another interview for you, with Team SD Worx’s Kiwi climber, Niamh Fisher-Black. It’s dated from late January when the team did a press day on their training camp but she had lots of interesting things to say about her career so far and the upcoming season(s).
Really sad that we didn’t get to see Niamh take on Jebel Hafeet at UAE Tour as she suffered an injury before the race but we wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her rip it up again later this season!
This really isn’t my finest work as I’m pretty dead post-travel etc but I’m hoping that the main thing is you guys hear from Niamh and her quotes!!
Enjoy! ✨

The volume of young talent in the women’s peloton has grown exponentially in recent years as the sport continues to professionalise. Which is why winning the U23 world title proves Niamh Fisher Black to be one of the most exciting young prospects in the peloton.
The Kiwi climber has seen her career steadily progress in recent years, particularly since signing for Team SD Worx in 2021, supporting team leader Demi Vollering and cleaning up most of the available youth classifications as she goes.
“If I look back at the last two years, since even before I joined the team, there’s sort of been what feels like almost a linear progression. Like I just keep stepping up,” she told WCW from a recent Team SD Worx training camp.
“I think there's definitely still more to come with that. Because also, I don't feel any less motivated. If anything, I'm more motivated this year to step up again and this boost of confidence that I have from last season is just fueling me into this year and changes my approach and things.”
