Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
SD Worx’s record in Itzulia’s short history remains unblemished as Demi Vollering went on to win the third edition of the race making it a GC hat-trick for the team. Not only that but SD Worx have won every single stage in the history of the race between Vollering, 2023 winner Marlen Reusser, and Mischa Bredewold who won the first two stages this year. Next year’s race might as well be named after them!
As for Burgos, my predictions have been pretty terrible lately and my assertion in Wednesday’s newsletter that Lorena Wiebes would easily win the sprints at Burgos was the latest example. I did say last week that I thought Demi Vollering would walk the GC, though, but that’s also not a hot take by any means, and is still TBD (but looking increasingly likely after today — oops, another prediction!)
Meanwhile, the podcast is back! I got back on the mic with Rachel to discuss the current Spanish racing block and whether or not the latest winning streak means that SD Worx will be back to dominating the whole season once again (spoiler, we don’t think so).
Enjoy the newsletter!
