Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly: Your weekly round-up of all things news, content, racing, and more from the world of women’s cycling.
🎄🤶🎄🤶🎄🤶🎄🤶🎄🤶🎄🤶
Welcome to the final issue of Women’s Cycling Weekly for 2024! WCW will be taking a break until the 3rd Jan but there’s plenty of content and racing to be getting on with in the meantime including looooots of CX races taking place over the Christmas period.
It’s a very quiet time of year outside of the muddy ‘cross fields but there’s been some interesting news including Annemiek van Vleuten taking up a role at Fenix - Deceuninck as well as some of kit reveals and lots of content coming out of training camps.
By the time WCW returns to your inboxes it will be just a few short weeks until the WWT season kicks off at Tour Down Under! Until then, thank you to everyone who has supported this newsletter this year 💞. Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year — see you in 2025!

News 📰
Annemiek van Vleuten has taken up a new role as a ‘performance mentor’ for Fenix Deceuninck. "I’m excited to contribute to the growth of this talented team. Throughout my career, I learned the value of reflection and improving through trial and error, and I hope to help accelerate this process for the athletes here. This new role is a fantastic challenge that perfectly aligns with my ambition to grow as a coach," Van Vleuten said.
More 2025 kits were revealed this week including a jazzy number from Canyon//SRAM and an even jazzier version from Liv AlUla Jayco made by Australian brand, Maap, on their first foray into the WorldTour.
Fem van Empel will not race this weekend’s cyclocross World Cup double header after sustaining a knee injury during a recon ride. "Fem van Empel fell during a recon ride this week and hit her knee," her team, Visma | Lease a Bike, announced. "She's experiencing discomfort and, unfortunately, will not be able to start in the World Cups in Hulst and Zonhoven this weekend.”
Five-time cross-country mountain bike world champion Annika Langvad is coming out of retirement to race for the Specialized off-road team. The 40-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Back to full time racing in 2025. After some years away from racing at the highest level, it’s time to give it a go again with the Specialized Off-Road team. Why? Because I just cannot not do it”
