Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
I already moaned about this in the subscriber-only newsletter but it is 🔥hot🔥 in Girona atm so I’ve been good for just about nothing meaning it’s a good job that WWT racing is back on TV so I can lie on the sofa and watch while trying to survive the heatwave.
It’s been a great race so far, with Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig delivering a win on stage two and Lorena Wiebes doing Lorena Wiebes things otherwise. As is often the case with this race there have also been some breakout rides from the likes of Kim Cadzow and the ever-aggressive Fenix Deceuninck have been doing their thing again which I’m all about.
I’m also super excited for the Tour l’Avenir Femmes to start next week, especially after the start list was revealed today. There’s a LOT of recognisable names there, which maybe defeats the point of having the race in the first place (2/2 TDFF white jersey winners present) but it’s a great step forward for development in women’s racing.
I’ll be back for paid subscribers with a post-Scandinavia wrap up some time in the middle of next week and in the usual Friday slot for everyone else. For now, I’m off to sit next to the aircon unit and count down to the end of this heatwave.
Enjoy,
Amy x
