Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
The Olympics are (almost) half way through and it’s about to get cycling heavy between the road race on Sunday and the start of the track events on Monday.
I can’t wait to see how the road race pans out with smaller teams and no radios always making way for the unexpected (aka Anna Kiesenhofer’s win in Tokyo). The favourites will be alive to a surprise move from an outside this time, especially the Dutch.
With a punchy course that looks very similar to last year’s worlds road race in Glasgow we’re set for a thrilling race — and potentially the same outcome?
Can Kopecky pull it off before she heads over to the velodrome? Will Lorena Wiebes make it to a sprint finish? Will Elisa Longo Borghini use that Giro winning form to take gold?
And if all of that wasn’t enough, this time next week I’ll be coming to you with just THREE days to go until the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift gets underway. I’ll be heading there with this very newsletter and the revival of the long-dormant (sorry!) podcast so stay tuned!
For now, enjoy this week’s newsletter!

Final moment to appreciate the legend that is Anna Kiesenhofer before she passes the torch. The Olympics have been amazing so far (highlight was my mom learning who Pauline Ferrand-Prevot is). Can’t wait for the road race!
