Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
It’s Tour de France Femmes time! 🇫🇷💛 I’m writing this in between packing my bags before I head up to Clermont-Ferrand tomorrow and I am SO excited for the Tour to get underway and to see the world of cycling revolve around women’s racing again.
There are so many unknowns, so many questions for the race to answer and so much unexpected drama yet to unfold. Sure, that’s the case for a lot of races on the calendar but this is the Tour de France where everything is amplified; the excitement is greater, the stakes are higher, there’s more eyes on the racing and more of us lot in the press room bringing you the stories of the day 🫶.
🎙️
Speaking of the press room, I only went and taught myself the basics of the dark art of 👾 audio editing 👾 meaning that I can now bring you podcasts both from inside the race and, later, from a hard wooden chair at my kitchen table via Zoom. For the return of the WCW pod from its two month hiatus it was the latter where I was joined by my lovely colleague, Rouleur staff writer Rachel Jary. Rachel and I recorded a slightly chaotic but hopefully informative or, if not, at the very least entertaining pre-Tour de France Femmes chat.
Look out for more where that came from throughout the race!
Enjoy!
