Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
The calendar is busyyyy at the moment, The Tour of Britain Women is half way through while the first multi-day edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Femenina got underway today. Elsewhere, there’s racing in Belgium and the Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées makes a return after last year’s edition was called off due to safety issues. If all that wasn’t enough, the off road scene is just as full-gas; Unbound last weekend marked a huge step forward for the women’s racing at that event and MTB World Cup racing (DH and XC) returns for the next three weekends in a row!
In terms of the road, the last two days have seen some verryyy close sprint finishes wherein some big hitters have been taken right to the line. At TOB Women yesterday, Liv AlUla Jayco’s Letizia Paternoster got so close to beating world champion Lotte Kopecky to the line. While at Volta Catalunya today, AG Insurance - Soudal’s Ally Wollaston got the better of none other than Marianne Vos (!!) in a sprint to the line. The level is SO HIGH at the moment, I can’t wait for the next few months of racing.
Let’s get into it.
