Women's Cycling Weekly issue 52
A weekly curation of women's cycling news and content straight to your inbox
Hello! Welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly issue 52 🚴♀️
Happy new year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Thanks so much to everyone who has supported this newsletter by subscribing, donating to the Ko-Fi page, and giving feedback over the last 12 months or so. The collective WCW new year’s resolution (I have not consulted Tilda on this but I don’t need to) is to keep promoting and supporting women’s cycling, obvs.
I spent the last few weeks in Belgium and am now fully sold on cyclocross, however I’m still very much emerging from the Christmas break brain fog so rather than bore on about it I’m going to keep this intro short and sweet. See you in a couple of weeks, enjoy! x

News:
In Classic UCI News, Conti team Bizkaia-Durango have been asked by the governing body to change their pink kit design due to its similarity to the Women's WorldTour leader's jersey — which nobody but the UCI cares about.
Drops Le Col become Le Col Wahoo for this season and are aiming towards WorldTour status in 2023.
Finally, our thoughts are with Amy Pieters, her family, and all of SD Worx. The team confirmed she has been moved to the Netherlands after suffering a serious crash in training in Spain just before Christmas.

Personally I can’t think of anything worse than a women’s MSR but Marta Cavalli is better placed to judge than me and she not only wants one, she wants to win it too.
Actually I can think of something worse (for me): racing Transcontinental. Fiona Kolbinger not only raced it, though, she won outright.
Lizzie Deignan reflects on an incredible year for Britain’s female cyclists.
Denise Betsema might divide opinion, but I take my hat off to any woman who balances bike racing with motherhood.
Dame Sarah Storey on that winning feeling.
Shara Marche: From pro racer to nutritionist at SD Worx.
