Women's Cycling Weekly issue 54
A weekly curation of women's cycling news and content straight to your inbox
Hello! Welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly issue 55 🚴♀️
The European road season has started!
I mentioned it last year but whenever the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana comes around I am reminded of the omnishambles that was my first ever UCI race and my last ever race. This time, I decided to document them in this piece for CyclingTips in what was a pretty therapeutic exercise tbh.
In other news, now that the season has started WCW will be returning to weekly issues! 🥳
Let’s get to it…
News 📰
Stage racing is BACK! The Setmana Ciclista Valenciana started yesterday and you can watch the weekend’s racing live here.
The whole Le Col-Wahoo team, as well as Lizzy Banks (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB), have pulled out of starting the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana due to Covid cases and contacts.
The UCI has confirmed that an U23 road and time trial world champion will be crowned in 2022, 2023 and 2024. For some reason, we’ll have to wait until 2025 for standalone U23 races.
Roland Cogeas Edelweiss have partnered with Israel-Premier Tech for 2022, and will support the development of Israeli and Canadian cyclists. They have added a 12th rider to their roster in the form of Israel’s Rotem Gafinovitz.
