Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
Well, the Giro’s been a bit dramatic so far, eh? A deluge cancelling stage one, different winners, dazzling debutants and downright disasters, not to mention Annemiek van Vleuten proving me well and truly wrong and dominating the race like she’s never been away.
I’ve been really enjoying the race but, as I said in today’s subscriber-only bonus Giro newsletter, it does take the edge off a stage race when the GC is sewn up to such an extent so early on in the race. Still, it does just seem right that Annemiek has walked all over the Giro in classic Annemiek style in her last ever go at the race.
I’d be lying, though, if I said I didn’t already have one eye on the TDFF… 💛🇫🇷🥐
Enjoy this week’s newsletter!

P.s I was grumbling earlier this week on Twitter about how little coverage there seems to be of the Giro Donne out there thanks to some race that’s occurring over in France at the same time. It feels like 60% calendar probs and 40% lack of interest to me. Either way it’s very frustrating to see a race that’s brought so much drama get so little attention. What do you guys reckon?

I appreciate to be able to watch a little bit of the Giro Donne. It’s not that long ago, when we were “watching” women’s races with Twitter messages. So, there is still a loooot of room for improvement in women’s cycling left 😍🙏
I've been very disappointed at the lack of coverage, particularly on GCN, The Escape Collective and Velo - no daily emails (as is the case for the men's TDF), eg.
