Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! 🚴♀️
Happy Friday everyone! Does anyone else get their days confused during the Ardennes because there’s big races are happening mid-week? Why did Wednesday feel like a Sunday? It can’t just be me?
We’re 2/3 for so far and what an incredible couple of races Amstel and Flèche turned out to be. When Amstel finally got going (hoping the police motorcyclist is on the mend 🙏) it was such an aggressive race and that finish!! Poor Lorena Wiebes learned a valuable lesson the hard way but woooow Marianne Vos is on fire this year!
Someone else who seems to have really lit the burners in 2024 is Kasia Niewiadoma. I can’t have been the only one screaming at the TV when it was clear she was going to make it to the line to win Flèche Wallonne — a whole five years since her last road victory in 2019. I know I’m meant to be impartial but I think this is a sentiment felt throughout the world of cycling!
Not a single SD Worx or Lidl-Trek victory so far this week, which feels like a diversion from regular programming — so who’s going to pick up that monument victory at Liège on Sunday? My money’s on ELB.
Enjoy this week’s newsletter!

Friday fun 🕺
If we can't have a bike race we better be getting dogs
And if there's one thing better than a dog it's a monkey
That’s all 👋

To be honest I never thought you were impartial and I appreciate that.
KASIAAAAAA!!! 😭😭😭
Tragically I had to give a presentation during the race and watch highlights later, but I teared up anyway. What a moment!
