Thanks for raising the article around the dangers of contraception. I'd like to add another issue that is flying under the radar - a very close friend of mine, and promising female rock climber passed away a few years ago while on an attempt of a new summit in India. Unfortunately, the cause of her death was not climbing related, but complications of contraception and high altitude training. While I am unable to point to a news report or article discussing this issue, these complications resulted in her having a heart attack and passing in her sleep at the basecamp. Given the extreme push for high altitude training in cycling, climbing and other sports, I wish that this problem was more commonly known/addressed.
