Hello lovely subscribers and welcome to Women’s Cycling Weekly! đŸšŽâ€â™€ïž

Another week with no WWT racing

BUT there’s surprise (to me at least) live coverage of the CIC-Tour FĂ©minin International des PyrĂ©nĂ©es which some of the top TDFF contenders are using as a prep race and which has already delivered some exciting racing! (Scroll down for results!)

It also dawned on me that I keep forgetting that we have the Giro between now and TDFF which says everything about the Giro and how the organisers have massively dropped the ball when it comes to promoting or releasing any decent info about the race. Either that or it shows that I should pay more attention 👀.

(I’m actually leaning towards option 3
)

Anyway, alongside the Tour de PyrĂ©nĂ©es (I’m shortening it to this, ok) we also have the Lenzerheide MTB world cup and I was 😍 to see how many of you answered that you already loved, or were interested in MTB. If tonight’s short track was anything to go by then Sunday is going to be đŸ”„.

See you next week aka when normal WWT race service is about to resume!

News 📰

  • As I’m sure most of you know by now. Belgian Canyon//SRAM rider (and world champion madison partner of Lotte Kopecky) Shari Bossuyt has been suspended following an adverse analytical finding of Letrozole from a test taken at the Tour de Normandie FĂ©minin, where she won a stage, earlier this year. Bossuyt has since pleaded her innocence.

  • The Lotto Belgium Tour, which was due to start next week, has been cancelled at the last minute with organisers citing lack of municipal support as the cause.

  • The Tour of Scandinavia will be reduced from 6 stages down to 5 after the organisers of the Swedish leg of the race pulled out due to “lack of funding.”

  • EF Pro Cycling have announced that they will launch a women’s team, EF Education-Cannondale, from 2024. The news comes as the current EF Education Tibco-SVB team is set to lose its two other title sponsors at the end of this year. It is not yet clear how this will affect riders such as Roubaix winner Alison Jackson.

  • The start list for this month’s British national championships has been released. Lizzie Deignan will not race but Katie Archibald, Pfeiffer Georgi, and Zoe BĂ€ckstedt are set to start.

What gets Chloe Dygert into trouble is her unapologetic denial of white privilege and the trauma of black people. If she denied the holocaust existed she’d never get a ride but any kind of anti black racism is glossed over and buried - from Moscon, to Simmons to Dygert. I would genuinely be interested in your views as being one of the very few truly independant outlets of women’s cycling media with a record of championing diversity in cycling.
